There are many ways to classify customers but there is one basic is very important to understand the importance of marketing for any business idea.
The most basic form of classifying customers of a company is as follows:
1. Existing customers
2 New customers, and
3. Exit clients.
What many entrepreneurs sometimes overlook is that there are always clients of departure, i.e. customers who will leave our business idea either by that are other alternatives, depletion of the service or simply decide to explore alternatives in the competition.
The entrepreneur that has to be always on the hunt for new customers to replace customers found out that way and that is where marketing is very important as a sustained policy of business to go on renewing the client portfolio of the company.
Therefore it is that I believe that every entrepreneur must divide their time dedicated to his venture into three parts:
1. The first intended to maintain and serve its existing clients.
2. A second part of his time will be devoted to be learning new things, and
3. The third part is devoted to get new customers.
Lose sight of the importance of being always in search of new clients can lead to the given failure to a business idea that becomes highly dependent on their current customers and anytime the business can be surprised if any of them leaves the company.
Identify in addition to customers that are the output allows me analyse the reasons for which those clients are leaving the business to so implement policies that reduce its impact on my business and seek also to retain them if it were the case.
For this reason, never a company must stop having a marketing strategy given that that must always be a constant and permanent task of the company not only to grow its portfolio of customer but also to power keep it replacing output customers.
